There is a category under Great Britain for Indian Army Coins. There is no such thing ! Some of the coins shown here are simply Indian coins, and should be under India. Others are from Ceylon, even British West Africa. Get rid of it, please !

Dear Roger,

I see the category is still there today, still with unsold coins from Africa and Ceylon as well as India.

You are quite right, there is no such thing as Great Britain --- Indian Army Coins. This category should be done away with, to avoid temting sellers into burying their stock in it.

Oh well ! I don't suppose they will change what has been laid down on tablets of stone, no matter how demonstrably wrong it is.

This happens to British people who show their heads above the parapet and contribute to the forum. Francophile and Rogermo have also had their accounts closed by delcampe, purely for what they have contributed to the forum, but of course it stops them buying from sellers too.

bonsoir PN,

wherever you are, having a recent coin catalog i find that you are correct in your answer. the delcampe team should adjust their categories and remove this one from the list.

Perhaps this category was intended to contan coins of the East India Company, which certainly do exist. But this was a trading company like the Dutch East Indies Comany or the German New Guinea Company or similar Portuguese companies, some of which issued coins and/or stamps. It was nothing to do with the British Army or the Indian Army, not like for example the Honourable Artillery Comany.
